Consultant Urologist Mike Foster has specialist expertise in andrology: erectile dysfunction, impotence, disorders of the male genitalia, male infertility and vasectomy reversal. Mr Foster is based at Spire Little Aston Hospital and also works at BMI Priory Hospital in Birmingham.

Peyronie’s Disease

Mr Foster has a particular interest in Peyronie’s Disease, a disorder which results in men developing a bent penis. The disease can affect men at any age, the cause is unknown and treatment requires specialist expertise. In many cases, the disease prevents men from having normal sexual intercourse. The most serious cases require surgery. He sees approximately 60 new patients with this disease each year. “This is a very distressing condition which has a major impact on men’s lives. However, in even the most severe cases, surgery does provide an established treatment option,” explains Mr Foster.

Erectile Dysfunction and Impotence

Mr Foster has extensive experience of treating patients who do not respond to standard drug therapies such as Viagra for impotence. He can offer injections and penile implants which are effective in the most severe cases.

Vasectomy Reversal

Mr Foster is highly experienced in vasectomy reversal. Mr Foster explains: “Sadly, in todays society, a significant number of men who have a vasectomy regret the decision at a later date, but vasectomy reversal is a method by which they can father children once again”. The procedure is undertaken as a day case with the surgery taking about one hour. Patients only require approximately one week off work to recover. The success rate depends on exact circumstances of the man and his partner, but the current success rate in terms of sperm production is over 80% with a pregnancy rate of nearly 50%.
