Mr Mike Foster – consultant urologist

Mike Foster qualified in Birmingham in 1980, undertook general surgical training and research in Nottingham before moving to Manchester to concentrate on urology. He returned to Birmingham in 1991.

In 1992, he was appointed to the post of Consultant Urologist at Selly Oak and Queen Elizabeth Hospitals. In 1995 he moved to Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield to help set up their new urology department, and has been there since.

At various times he has been Clinical Director of the Department of Surgery at Good Hope, Trust Lead Cancer Clinician, Chair of the pan-Birmingham Urological Cancer Network and a member of the pan-Birmingham Cancer Network Board.

He has also been Regional Advisor in Urology to the Royal College of Surgeons and the British Association of Urological Surgeons and is currently in charge of urological post-graduate training in the West Midlands Region, as well as secretary of the Midland Urological Club.

In addition to running a busy general urological practice, he has a special interest in andrology, attracting tertiary referrals from around the region. He has been performing GreenLight laser surgery for BPH since 2008.
