GreenLight laser treatment testimonial – John Williams

“I was able to get back to work quickly and have had no problems at all. GreenLight laser is fantastic – I would recommend it to everyone.”
John Williams had GreenLight laser treatment in July 2006. Mr Williams is a 61-year-old carpenter from Bournville, Birmingham.
“I had to have a catheter in for four months following radiotherapy. As a result of the radiotherapy, my urethra closed completely and I became very ill. Living for so long with a catheter was very distressing. My job is very physical and it was impossible to work. I hardly ever went out and when I did go out, I was reluctant because it was so uncomfortable. It was like living with a spider on your shoulder.
“My wife and I looked on the internet and we were reading about TURP when we came across some information about GreenLight laser. My brother had TURP 18 months earlier. He was in hospital for five days and then at home very poorly for another two weeks.
“I read accounts by people in America who had been treated with GreenLight laser therapy and immediately thought that would be better. We contacted hospitals in Bath and London then were really pleased when we found out it had been introduced at the Birmingham Prostate Clinic so I could have the procedure locally.
“It was a completely painless experience. The night after my operation, I passed water normally for the first time in four months. I was absolutely elated. Mr Doherty told me I was fine and we went home to get back to our lives.
“I was able to get back to work quickly and have had no problems at all. GreenLight laser is fantastic – I would recommend it to everyone. Enlarged prostate is a problem for many men but there is no reason why anyone should suffer with it when this impressive procedure is available. It is simple, painless and you can get your life back.
“Knowing my brother’s experience of TURP, I don’t understand why they are still doing this operation, when they have GreenLight laser which is fantastic for patients. This has got to be the way forward.”
