A leading specialist in bladder pain and incontinence has joined BPC, bringing the total number consultants at the clinic to five.

Mohammed Belal provides a new service for the clinic, with expertise in both stress and urge incontinence and working with both female and male patients. He teaches and trains nationally and internationally and receives referrals from throughout the region and the UK as a whole.

Alan Doherty, consultant urologist who founded BPC in 2003 and has seen the clinic grow into the largest and most established service within the region, comments: “We are delighted that Mr Belal has joined BPC.

“He is a highly respected colleague at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, which is the tertiary referral service for the region and as such, consultants have the experience of working with patients facing particularly complex problems.

“Mr Belal brings a new sub-speciality to BPC; a focus on the bladder, on all the different types of incontinence, using all the most advanced treatments to help patients with this debilitating condition.”

BPC consists of three consultant urologists: Mr Belal joins Mr Doherty, John Parkin. The longstanding team also consists of consultant oncologist Ahmed El-Modir, consultant radiolologist Dr Ian McCafferty and advanced nurse practitioner Nula Allen.
