Leading oncologist Dr Dan Ford joins the Birmingham Prostate Clinic

We are delighted that oncologist Dr Dan Ford has joined the Birmingham Prostate Clinic, further enhancing our status as the largest private urology service in the Midlands.
Dr Ford, who is highly respected for clinical leadership and cancer research, joins our team of seven consultants and three advanced nurse practitioners.
“Every member of the team brings distinct skills and experience to the whole,” comments consultant urologist and founder of BPC, Mr Alan Doherty.
“Dr Ford brings distinctive drive and commitment to research and audit, which is very important to BPC and he has particular expertise in precision therapies such as SABR (stereotactic ablation radiotherapy).
“Having a large team with different specialities and perspectives means we can offer patients a full spectrum of choice and the assurance that we work as a team. Patients will usually see more than one member of the team and are welcome to seek different opinions before deciding how to proceed.
“Dr Ford is highly respected and we are delighted that he has joined our team.”
Dr Dan Ford is Clinical Service Lead for oncology at University Hospital Birmingham, the major regional referral service for the West Midlands and leads a team of over 25 oncologists.
A deeply committed researcher, Dr Ford is a deputy clinical cancer lead for the West Midlands NIHR Clinical Research Network, whose role is to support and promote research activity across the region.
He is currently the local lead of the PACE trial looking at profound hypofractionation techniques for localised prostate cancer and helping to advance SABR (stereotactic ablative radiotherapy), precision technology originally developed for brain and lung cancer, now being applied to other areas such as metastatic prostate cancer. University Hospital Birmingham is one of only five centres nationally selected to deliver SABR to all currently funded sites and has the highest treatment numbers in the country.
